Why is my Screen of the Nokia Lumia 720 not working ?

Last night I was using my phone and suddenly my screen went black and I tried putting it to charge and In the morning when i checked it, it worked but after I locked it it went black again. I tried every reset possible but it didn't work and I can't go to a Nokia care center cause I don't have one close by. Can you please help me ?

Try giving your device a soft reset to see if that fixes the inconsistent display.

To do a soft reset, simply hold down the power button + the volume down button for 10-15 seconds, or until your phone vibrates.

If that doesn't work, you may just have a busted display.

But sometimes when I hold the power button for a long time when the phone is on, it shows the slide down to power off screen

Right, that's normal. In this case, though, just keep holding the button down until it restarts itself.
