Why is Outlook email so slow in opening invidual messages?

When I click on a message, it takes Outlook AGES to open it. I usually just give up and delete it if it is not necessary to my work, or from someone I must stay in contact. I hate Outlook, it slows down my work day outrageously.

I'm having this too. On a PC. It is horrendously slow. I'm on a pretty good fiber link, not having problems with anything else.
