Why is Windows 10 using double the amount of ram that Windows 7 used?

I upgraded from Win 7 pro 64 bit and my system at idle was only using 1-1.2 gb ram, now it's using 2.8gb and I have even less stuff turned on. I turned off all notifications and background processes and Cortana. Still using too much ram. I use my computer for pro audio and need all the ram I can get.
