Why oh Why No RESET option?

Ok, i know we're in beating a dead horse territory but i have tryed a "soft reset" on my HTC 8S. My understanding is its power button + volume down. If this is not correct let me know.

Here's what happens when I do that... After a few sec the slide down to power down screen shows. I slide down and it powers down. But it doesnt cycle back on. I have to push the power button to turn it back on, plus, my ringer is now down to 0 and im on vibrate.

Gotta be a better way

Ps- the 2 reboot ap ps I found dont work with 8.1..

Press the power button + volume down button, and keep them pressed when the slide down to power down screen shows: don't slide it down. After a few seconds your phone will reboot. You'll have to reset the date/time after that though.

You're pressing it wrong.

Press them together for 10-15 seconds. There should be a short buzz and the phone will restart.

Thanks.. .it didnt reset my time and date but it does set my volume to 0 and on vibrate. Not an ideal way but it works... Thanks.

So are you saying like if you hold the power button a menu should pop up with reboot/restarting being an option?

Like maybe
- Power Off
- Reboot
- Turn off screen
- Reboot into bootloader
- Fast boot

I know a phone that does this if thats what you want I can give you a name
