Why on Earth are we still unable to play synced subscription music on our WP8???

It's July. Windows Phone 8 came out in November of last year. This should be a top priority but it is still not fixed. I do not understand this.

Whenever I sync music from my Windows 8 computer to my WP8 (Lumia 920) and try to play a song, I get the dreaded "We are unable to confirm the media usage rights for this content" error message. This is on every song. I have already notified Windows Phone twitter support, Microsoft chat specialists, etc. They all basically give me the same response eventually that this is a "known issue" and there is no known solution yet. That has been the official response since November.

Now, here's where it gets weird. At first, all synced subscription music wouldn't play at all. Then, an update came back in January (maybe February?) and the subscription music worked, but not at first. Whenever I would try to play a song, it would give me the error code listed above. But if I tried again, then it would play and would play every time from then on out. Well that lasted for a couple months, but now, any new subscription content synced will not play at all and gives the above error code every time.

How is it that the old synced subscription content plays, but anything new I sync does not? Oh, and don't tell me to hard reset my phone. I have been through 3 Lumia 920's and 6 hard resets in the past week. At first, all synced subscription music played after the second try like I said above. But now, if I didn't cycle the song to remove the error code, or if I add any new subscription music, it's back to it's old error code ways every time. I am blown away at how much of a colossal mess Xbox Music is on the WP8.

Same issues here. Thats why my Lumia lives in my desk drawer and only sees the light once every few days to see if anything has changed.

Probably because Microsoft is a company with a bunch of silos that don't talk to each other. So the result of that is the Windows Phone team ignores everything the Zune team did and so you can't sync any of your subscription music or purchased videos. It's probably also why they are going to a massive reorg to hopefully fix that silo crap.

p.s. It's also why I still use my Zune in my Ford Sync system for music and don't really use it at all on my 928. Long live Zune! :)

While I'm definitely not glad that y'all are experiencing the same thing, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. Have either of you updated to Windows 8.1 Preview? And have you tried syncing subscription music then to see if anything has changed?

I don't want to touch it. It's so bad.

No, windows 8.1 vastly improved the music app (it's a separate app unlike windows phone where music + video comes with OS and needs to be updated with the OS), but the stupid desktop/metro windows phone app is still same mess

Yes, I updated to Windows 8.1 on my Surface RT and I love the new Music App. My Lumia 920 will not connect to my Surface for some reason though.

Can you confirm though that you can still not play any subscription music on your WP8 when synced from Windows 8.1? Whether you use the Windows Phone App or the Windows Phone App for Desktop? I will never ever use the Desktop version b/c no matter how hard I try, it will not sync any album with the year attached.

When I use the actual app to sync music, all the metadata comes through (after adding album art using Media Monkey) I just can't play any subscription songs on my phone after they are synced.

actually I can play synced subscription music on my phone - I synced them through the windows phone desktop app. The only problem is that I have Xbox music turned on on the phone, so I got two copies of the same song
