I've had a strange issue this evening with wifi turning itself off. I've searched for other sufferers and found this video, which is exactly my issue:
Lumia 920 WiFi glitch - YouTube

Anyone else had this? It seems OK now (on a different router)

Just to confirm:
1 battery is fine - so it's not battery saver (which is off anyway)
2 data is off
3 wifi is NOT set to always on (when screen timeouts)

hmm .. never had this issue on my 920, I've used Belkin, Cisco and Netgear routers at work and other places, they all work fine. Maybe it is some different wi-fi band that is not supported by Lumia

I would restart the phone and see if that fixes it. Might be a buggy software issue that a reboot will fix.

No, it's worked flawlessly on the same router for 11 months. Nothing has changed.

It's behaving now. But very odd.

^^^How about changing that setting for number 3?

Click on Settings: Wifi: Advanced then check the box that says keep Wifi on when the screen times out. Hopefully that fixes your issue.

Thanks but i don't want WiFi on when screen times out. Too much battery. Anyway... Problem hasn't happened again so guess there's no need to pursue.

Thanks for replies.

It happens to me when I am on power saving mode and battery is below 20%. That doesn't seem to be your case, so try a soft reset .

I also have this problem since the Amber update. It is very irritating while watching youtube or any videos online. I haven't found any fix.
