For one thing display via miracast will be compressed and generally of lower visual quality than a physical connection via hdmi or display port. Also relying on miracast without the dock implies Bluetooth accessories such as mouse and keyboard rather than having the option of hard wired USB devices via the dock. Nothing world shattering but a step down from using the dock.
