Will current Apps work on WP8.1 as is or need upgrade?

Stupid Question: will the current apps still work when we update to 8.1 next week? Or do we have to wait to let them get updated?

I see no reason why they shouldn't work. Now, apps built for WP8.1 won't work with WP8.

Apps developed for WP8 will be compatible for WP8.1. However the reverse would not hold true. Also till WP8.1 is released to the general public, developers will continue the normal trend.
