Will I get updates on my 1520 if I switch carriers?

So, I am likely to get flamed, but my searches did not avail me so I am reaching out to the WP community. I have a1520 and I love it, my contract is about to end with AT&T ( I have the glossy red at&t version) and I am debating on switching carriers to T-mobile. My worry is that as T-Mobile does not carry the 1520, when the 8.1update hits, is there any certainty that I would receive the update? Your help is appreciated!

Nope. Kidding, you'll get updates according to your manufacturer name or mobile operator (I don't remember which), but it never changes unless you put another firmware on it, and the info is located under extras + info.

What he/she ^^ said. You'll get updates from AT&T, once they shake it out &/or put their own unique spin on it, unless ...

You use NSU & flash a different (compatible) ROM (assuming Nokia Cyan will make NSU before the carrier updates).
