Will i need to install WP8.1 again at the time of availability of W10M for my phone.

If I install build 10.0.10586.107 on my lumia 640xl via insider release preview, then will I need to reinstall wp8.1(via recovery tool) when official W10M is available for 640xl.

No. Just leave the Windows Insider program if you wish to stop receiving pre-release builds.

Thank you. But recent posts are saying that wp8.1 devices need firmware update before getting official W10M

I think they mean you need the firmware update if you on wp8.1 and want to receive the official W10M OTA as update. The official WP8.1 updates can still be controlled by some operators. That why it could be they need a intermediate update, before they can fully step over to W10M where updates are controlled by MS.
At least that's how I understood it.

I don't know what posts you are reading, but you should probably stop reading them.



If W10M requires firmware that MS can't distribute without carrier's approval, then that update will be dependent on carriers like it has always been. It will eventually be delivered as an OTA update, but you won't have to install WP8.1 to get it.

Ms has not confirmed which devices this may effect to date. Nobody on here would currently know. Wait and see.
