Will it make sense do have a W10 phone in a Google corp. environment?

Hi guys,

I am in doubt. Our IT landscape has changed from Office365 to Google (including mail, drive etc...).
Now, luckily I recently have waited to order a new phone, because I have always supported the WP environment and can not wait until MS
actually proofs with the new flagships that it was worth the wait. Luckily because now I am in the position to actually make a founded choice.

My main question/doubt is, does it make sense to have a W10 device in a Corporate Google environment? Or do you feel that I can expect to miss out on some kind of experience (business wise) due to lack of a solid interface between MS and Google services?
Because all of the rumors about Google apps easily being transformed etc.

Just curious about your opinions.

Well mail will work, and contacts and calendars mostly. Google Drive will be your main sticking point -- if you need to access or edit Google Drive documents on the go, there's really no good solution on WP short of remotely accessing a desktop.

You can access drive on the web, right? I mean in the browser.

So..there's that. IDK what else a business guy would need, but you're mostly good to go. However, the obvious thing is that you'd have it way easier if you used an Android.

Ma Rio's last sentence sums it up. iPhone would probably apply there as well; it has great Google services.

The problem is this: even if W10 Mobile solves some of the problems with Google services, you're more than likely looking at a lengthy wait. My advice would be to get an Android or iPhone now. If down the road WP will work in your environment, sell what you have and buy a WP. However, it will probably be about time for an upgrade anyway by the time that happens!

Google Docs and IE mobile on Windows Phone don't play nice together. I had to wait until I had access to a desktop PC to do anything with Google Docs when I had no mobile devices other than a Windows Phone.

I am in the same situation as the OP. "Contacts and calendars mostly" What does not work?

You can use active sync with corporate accounts which works fairly well for mail, calendars and contacts. Drive sucks, though Edge on Win 10 seems much more responsive to google sites so there may be hope. It's really the little things like accepting calendar requests properly and seeing all the details around appointments, using forms and goggle sites that are rough. Also no google authentication app means texts all day if your company uses 2 step. I've survived for a year but it gets old.
