Will upgrading to 7.8 lock my 900?

Seeing that 7.8 is currently available in Navifirm for 900 ATT users, do you guys know flashing it will lock it to the carrier again? ie unlocked ATT Lumia 900

I want new tiles from 7.8 right now!!! I know how to update through navifirm and I want to, but I don't want to lose all my texts and data again!!! Ugh :/
