Back when I was using webOS I remember one of the cool features of the Touchpad was that it could be paired with your smartphone to allow cross-platform messaging. If you were using your tablet in near proximity to your smartphone, any text messages or calls sent to your number could be directly answered or replied to from the touchpad.
With the coming of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 will this sort of thing be possible? I want to be able to send a text message to my friend using my laptop or tablet, without pulling my phone out of my pocket. I heard that iOS6 kind of has this feature now (only with macs so far i believe) and webOS has it some time ago, so is windows phone matured enough yet that this kind of functionality is possible?
I don't know what they'd have to do to enable it on the phone, but if they made a messaging app in windows 8 that was integrated with facebook (and most all social messaging hopefully) as well as the People app, I think it would be a pretty sick feature.
