win10 app-fb messenger notification sound repeatedly plays without cause

ok, so for the last couple weeks, fb messenger(win10 app) repeatedly plays its notification sound without cause, eg I haven't had a message from anyone ALL day, or I could respond to someone on messenger..and the sound will continue to play repeatedly.

I'm..at a complete loss for why this is happening, never mind how to fix it.

so..to quite staff sargeant zimm from starship troopers...MEDIC!
