win10 - Lock screen does not react os keyboard or mouse input

Since today morning I am not able to login to my Win10 PC. It starts normal until the lock Screen appears. The clock in the lock Screen is working, so everything seems to be ok. But the System does not react on any keyboard or mouse Input.

The Keyboard is working perfectly in the BOOT Menue (after F2 during Startup). So I am quite sure that this is not a hardware problem.

Can anyone helb me ?

Re: win10 - Lock screen does not react os keyboard or mouse input

I seem to have a similar issue, where my keyboard on one boot works fine at the lock screen, and the next time it does not. When the keyboard doesn't work, neither does the mouse. However, I am able to "swipe up" on my touch screen to enter my pin code.

I think it may be a bug that makes it think a touch screen is enabled without keyboard and mouse, even though my keyboard and mouse are attached. If you're having that issue without a touch screen, then the issue is more serious than I thought.

I wish I had a workaround.

Re: win10 - Lock screen does not react os keyboard or mouse input

Just had the issue again this morning.

While mouse clicking and keyboard did not work, I was able to left-click-and-hold the mouse at the bottom part of the screen, then drag the screen up as if using a finger on a touch screen. I was docked to external keyboard, monitor, and mouse, so touch screen was not available to me. However, the dragging the lockscreen up did indeed work with the mouse for me.

While it's not ideal, and Microsoft needs to fix this issue, at least it is a workaround until it is fixed. Let us know how that works for you.

EDIT: I shut down the computer again. When I rebooted, the keyboard/mouse worked fine to get past the lock screen.

One thing I noticed, it works fine after a full shut-down. It fails about half the time on wake from hibernation. At least on my machine that's the way it is going. I'll do a search in Microsoft's feedback to see if this is reported. If not, I'll fill out a report for Microsoft and let them know. If it has been, I'll add what I know about it to the issue so they can get it fixed.

Okay, here's another solution:

I did discover than when the mouse and keyboard aren't working on the lock screen, you can still get to the login screen by pressing "Control-Alt-Delete". I guess that's still a thing even in Windows 10.
