I tried to register a Hyper-V in-place on an SMB share but Hyper-V errored with
"Hyper-V encountered an error while loading the virtual machine configuration from [SMB path].vmcx"
Likewise, trying to make an SMB path the default location for VMs resulted in
"The default virtual machine configuration store cannot be changed to '[SMB path]': A device attached to the system is not functioning."
Needless to say, the SMB share is functioning as is the device it's on. (The same file server acts as an NFS server to two vSphere hosts.
Is client Hyper-V with SMB just not possible or what am I doing wrong?
