That's because MS is going to make attractive for android developers to update their apps for windows mobile. That's it.

I figured these bridges were going to be simply part of their IDE and compiler, taking code for other platforms and adapting it to run on Windows. This makes it sound more like they're emulating other OSes within Windows... that sounds less great.

Not so great on the lower end phones, but in my experience (on Blackberry) it is pretty nice to be able to run Android apps when desired. I don't know how long it'll last having Android apps in the Windows Store (it sort of failed in BBLand and Amazon Appstore is now preloaded), but it may allow for Android apps to eventually come to the Windows tablets and PCs.
