Windows 10 Mobile OS build 10.0.10586.218 not responding properly

Post the 2nd official update for Windows 10 Mobile OS build 10.0.10586.218 on Lumia 640XL my phone keeps freezing, Battery drains rapidly, Locks screen shows weird coding characters. Please help with a solution to fix this as this is creating a lot of hassle to use this phone.

The solution is to perform a hard reset and install apps carefully. A rogue app running in the background can also cause performance issues.

As posted above, you need to do a hard reset. If you can get to it, you will find reset my device in all settings > system right down the bottom. I also wouldn't restore from a back up. It's a pain in the rear but I've always found installing the apps back from 'my library' gives the desired result. On top of that, you also get a clean install of any updates in store.

Is this confirmed? Does a clean restore perform better than a backup restore on W10M?
