I am getting the similar error. 25 % upgrade finished (85% files copied), then windows restarts, gives an error and returns to windows 8.1. Talked to a microsoft tech guy and he told me to do it through a windows 10 iso. I am still a little bit skeptical about this.

Satish Kamath, you are right to be sceptical as this is not an updater issue but hardware one. Something physical is stopping the installation, could be a hard drive or Dvd drive or perhaps a graphics, sound or WiFi card. I would uninstall and remove whatever you can, check your C drive for errors and try again.

I got the Error c1900101-40019 updating an Asus UL-80V notebook.

It is updating now.
Here is what I did:

1. got all Win 7 updates.
2. defrag (probably not necessary).
3. Disabled 2nd video card in UL-80V device manager.
4. Started Win 10 update.
5. Waited around and clicked "agree" on legal stuff. (I went out last time and had error when I returned.)
6. Clicked upgrade now button.

It is up to 13% and running OK. If it fails to complete, I will update this response.

I suspect that the key steps were #3, #5, #6.

It should be OK now.
