Hey All,
I just received my free upgrade to Win10 notification. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are and if they plan on taking the upgrade or not.

I'm really on the fence for this one right now. The current build is still buggy as heck with my SP3.

I'm planning on getting Windows 10, and I've 'reserved' my copy of it.
(If anyone doesn't know to reserves their copy click on the windows button on the taskbar)

He's talking about the final release in July, not the Insider version.

Yes, I've reserved my copy for both my desktop and SP3.
I know, he's talking about the RTM. But I hate to say it, MS is going to have to pull a rabbit out of it's **** to rid all of the bugs, and tweaks talked about in time for the July 29th date.

I still think they need to work the tablet/touch interface more. I'm fine with the desktop mode, but whenever I change to tablet mode I just want to reboot my SP3 back into W8.1.

I'll upgrade, but I'm thinking that July 29th might turn into August XXth, unless they REALLY think they can get it polished off by then. Haven't gotten the icon on my SP3 yet, but got it yesterday on my Windows 7 Pro desktop system at home.

Keep in mind that July 29th release date is to individual users and customers not to manufacturers. OEMs will get it before us, so they can add whatever customizations (i.e. bloatware) to the build for inclusion on new devices. So, I expect that a finished and polished RTM will be ready by mid-June early July.

Have you always just upgraded since you started on the insider program? if so you should try a clean install, i did the other week for the first time since day one and W10 is working fantastic on my SP3, im going to be upgrading to W10 on all 3 of my systems - Adam

My laptop running Windows 7 is currently with my little brother who is away at work for now. So I don't know if the laptop has received the notification yet. But then, I don't want to make reservations (just yet) cos I want to do a clean install. If between now and when the reservation would end I happen to format and reinstall Win7 (using Paul Thurrott's guidelines on installing a clean PC, https://www.thurrott.com/windows/1003/clean-pc-download-windows-7-windows-8-1-setup-media-legally) then yes. I would make my reservations.

I've had several Win10TP builds on my SP3 and the latest, 10130 was horrible. So bad I went back to 8.1. Waiting for the build to see if it's any better. With the July 29 release date I hope they are working 24/7 otherwise there's going to be a lot of unhappy customers.

Hey All,

. I've tried the Win 10 through the Insider app on my Lumia 735. I tried to be patient with it but after two weeks even trying it on the road, I had to go back to 8.1. About 45 days for release.. No way they're ready. At least two months delay I believe.

I think it has been said before that the mobile versions of Windows 10 won't be out until October or so. Which sort of makes sense since the desktop version still has a ways to go if they want a stable release on July 29th. I will upgrade my SP3, but might wait a week or two after release, just in case....

unless you were in desktop mode you wouldn't even know that icon was there
where do I find it when in tablet mode?
/sarc

on the other hand I never look at those icons cause when I am in desktop mode I am using the dock and extended monitor - no icons appear there.

I've reserved my copy for SP3 and my desktop. Will we need to upgrade to take advantage of universal apps? I am really hoping that eventually Windows will have better apps.

How do you do it if you are on tech preview already?

For starters, you had to sign up for it at this website (https://insider.windows.com/Home/SetupPC); and you would have to actually download the update after clicking through some more pages. It's not automatic.

I'm signed up for the program, but haven't actually downloaded it yet. I've been reading these forums and been putting off upgrading to preview because of all of the issues.
