Windows 9 for Lumia 520

We don't know.
Anything we have is either rumor or speculation.
It is likely, but it's far to early to tell.

You are right...but well...we know the kernel is going to be the same..WindowsNT... And the new news about arm phones getting a preview...in early 2015...these two are pretty strong signs...imo..lets see
Hoping for the best..

Let's face it , they need to sell those 530s , so it may not be offered as a business decision , still imo 520 users should be happy with getting wp 8.1 , how many times have OEMs completely screwed over android users with not offering an update for a more than eligible hardware .

Considering the popularity of the 520 and the fact they're still releasing phones with similar specs (512MB RAM), I would be very surprised if it didn't get Win9 or at least a stripped down version.

That means if 520 wouldn't be getting WP9 then it would be the same with 530
And technically 530 will only update 1 and 2, that's it...

And last suggestion don't buy 520 and 530 anymore if they wouldn't be getting WP9 update...

Since MS has no news of changing the kernel, there won't be another WP7 to WP8 incident and I suppose all phones running WP8/8.1 can update to WP9. The problem is the phone's hardware limitations. Will it run WP9? Probably yes. But will it run smoothly? That is the more concerning matter.

Only Snapdragon 800 windows phones and ones that come with windows phone 8.1 will be upgradeable to windows 9. Although others may be able to. Source: TKTechNews

If wpcentral doesn't report it then it's not a reliable source, simple as that.

Based on the grapevine that I know of, L520 would be getting the upgrade, albeit lacking a few features such as split screen multitasking which is supposedly going to be made available to larger screens... But as of now it's all merely speculation until anything official is announced, quite possibly at the Berlin event to be held on Thursday
