Got your attention. But sadly that is the situation around here. Just look at how much MSFT bashing are going on around here?

Imagine someone thinking of trying and switching over comes into this perpetually Windows information 'fan site' and sees all these anti-fan bashing, saying how androids rules over WP, would anyone trust WP anymore since it is disliked so much in the home ground?

Seriously sometimes I feel these are part of Google's plan to destroy WP, in the home forums.

Something about moderation needs to be done.

OP, since I'm bored I'll answer because this seems like some serious click bait and my bus ride home is long enough.

Google doesn't want to destroy MSFT. In fact, Google, MSFT and Apple all need each other in the marketplace...competition forces innovation, which benefits the end user.

MSFT is playing the long game here, trying to better integrate their offerings. Some of the long standing users are upset and rightfully so...I've used Windows since 2003 Second Edition, and can argue that WP7-8.1 was a beta test. I think people want to see what the new lineup is for 10, and go from there.

If you check the user names of those who are doing the most bashing, some are Windows Phone users who are fed up, some are Windows Phone users forced to use Windows Phone by their parents and they really wanted an Android, and a majority are Android users who have a loathing for all things Microsoft.

While we might think it would be nice to just censor this behavior, it's just not a good idea. As much as it makes me grind my teeth when an Android fan states that WP lags and Android doesn't (because I hate the spreading of false information with a passion), as long as they state it in a manner that is not insulting a particular user and not being vulgar nor otherwise violating the rules here, then they are entitled to express their opinion. If all the forums on the Internet started censoring opinions that are different, then it would be a very scary internet indeed. Unfortunately, many sites do censor opinions and in many cases facts that do not line up with their goals. I avoid those types of sites like the plague.

My best advice is this: Don't feed the trolls. There are a lot of people that get a kick out of starting arguments. If you see a person as being that, then just don't engage them, period. Put them on your ignore list and you won't have to see their posts. If we all did this, and we all stopped feeding the trolls, then they would find some place else to do their trolling. It's no fun trolling when you never get a bite.

The reason it is so rampant is because we Windows Phone users are passionate about our OS, and we vehemently defend it to these trolls. We need to ignore them to starve them out. Feed them and they just grow until the forum is too inhospitable to visit.

Thanks for taking time to read my reply/rant. :)

I too get annoyed with some of the anti topics or topics being hijacked.
I have reduced the time I spend here for that very reason, as I find it very tiring, and a waste of my time...

The dissent in these forums comes from passion about the product. If they didn't like Microsoft, Nokia, Windows or Windows Phone so much, they wouldn't be disappointed when they didn't work properly, or didn't operate how they wanted them to. If we didn't have passionate members, I would be concerned about the outlook for Windows Phone's future.

Moderation is not a tool to sculpt conversation to meet an agenda. I would have no interest in moderating or even contributing to a message board where posts were deleted or users were banned because their opinion is contrary to the company line.

Windows Central is a completely independent news and community site and neither supports or rejects Microsoft in any way We can't and won't censor criticism if it's been raised and discussed according to the forums code of conduct (i.e with respect and politeness).

Obviously, given the name of "WindowsCentral", we like to promote the good rather than promoting trolling of the product.

Please feel free to report and discussion that's obviously against the forum code of conduct. We moderators are good (obviously), but can't read and assess every single post of every thread...
