Keep W10m alive untill MS can get ARM going. They will keep existing customers and bring faith to people interest in MS. Showing MS is reliable....

Windows mobile can die as far as I'm concerned. I switched from the Lumia 950 to the Pixel 2 a few days ago and I'm very happy with it. Just moved my photos from one drive to google photos even though I think one drive is far better. I would rather have the built in support and compatibility to access all of my photos from years back on my phone and that was hard to achieve with one drive, not every app can easily access your one drive cloud. Google Photos is surprisingly fast accessing the photos in the cloud from my phone, maybe its the service or maybe its the phone. Now I can get rid of my monthly bill for one drive and groove. I hate to do it but I think I'm going to ditch office 365 next, I just like being on one platform.

The Pixel 2 has its shortcomings but overall it is twice the phone the lumia is.

After how MS has screwed ya in the pooper, how can you actually have faith in anything they say? There is an acronym for that. BOHICA. Bend Over Here It Comes Again. But if you're happy being their biatch, then by all means have a go. MS is anything but reliable. Just ask Delta, who will be switching to IOS because of MS' attitude towards mobile. Even if the surface phone somehow magically materializes, it will be too little too late. But keep the faith. That and a smile will be enough to get you hit on by Harvey Weinstein.

Wonder how long it will take Nadella to figure out that Delta is a fairly large corporation, not a consumer. What you get when you have a beancounter who lives quarter to quarter in the C suite of a tech company.

outsource? you mean MS should pay ppl to develop apps? or ppl would be happy to develop apps for "free".

Apps was just a part of problem, despite the WP popularity in India, Eu, China and South America, they never promoted them well enough, most models were out of stock, demand always exceeded supply, meanwhile MS continued to focus on US trying to compete with apple.

Your story is exactly why Microsoft will eventually fade into absolute irrelevance except for Azure. In killing mobile, one man... Nadella... killed off Windows... killed off Office... killed off OneDrive... killed off Surface... killed off Cortana. It may not happen overnight but it will happen. And MS will be nothing but a cheap IBM clone serving up Windows server on Azure.
