Windows Phone 8.1 : Redesigned around you

Nice! Could use a few minor tweaks here and there but love it overall. Quick, somebody send this to @joebelfiore.
haha I'd be happy if it got featured on "from the forums" lol.) I'm really happy with the feedback I've been getting here, on the verge and on Reddit.) you guys are great! .)

I thought this was real! dayum im so let down -_- I actually thought windows phone is now perfect and couldn't be any better

Incredible. I scrolled down with increasing excitement, loving every word and image. Amazing! This is what we need. I hope whatever team/person Microsoft has (or should have) is looking at this and calling over all coworkers to their screen, "Hey.... come here, check this out. Can we do this?"

Overall, I like what you've done. There are some parts of the interface that seem slightly too busy, but maybe that's just me - I opposed the new start screen too.

I remain skeptical on the usability of having so many different swipe gestures, and I think you built a bit too much redundancy into the changes (swipe left or right, swipe up or down, etc). I also think cramming everything into the task switcher is a questionable approach, I already feel the long press is annoying for task switching itself, let alone secondary functions in there.
I mainly put so many things there because I personally constantly use the task switcher to check the time/battery status on apps that don't have the status bar visible, so I'd love to have the extra functions there, as it'd be quick for me. However, it may not work for everyone and I'm not saying this is the only way to do it, just an option.)

Although creating a concept is much easier than actually implementing it, it's always been disappointing to me that Windows Phone 8 wasn't much more of an evolution of the ideas they put in place with Windows Phone 7. I mean, when it came out I was sort of like... "this is it?" This mockup is a great example of fleshing out the little gaps in the WP experience. I can't believe we have to wait until the fall before we even can hope to see these issues get taken care of.

They have to realize that these are really good ideas, and have to at least discussed something like this, right? I would like to see his response to this on twitter though.

This is BEAUTIFUL! Amazing! Please send this off ASAP! I swear if I had twitter I would send this to joe belfiore... Wow.

Btw! I also had an idea that I think you might also like a bit perhaps! In the messenger hub, when you are chatting with a friend. Instead of changing chats by clicking the button at the bottom, I was thinking instead you swipe left or right to go to skype chat with the person, or facebook chat. The switching button could be a search button now within the convo to find a word within your chat history with that person. The chat would have access to ALL your previous convo with the person, or wtvr you have on your settings for fb or skype.

What do you think? :)

I like the idea of having all the chats merged into one, but I think if Microsoft switched the hardware search button back to be short tap for contextual, long tap for bing, then you wouldn't actually have to have the software search button.) But that's just me, thanks for the feedback!

True! I definitely agree :). Man. If only all these were implemented. Windows Phone 8 would be wayyyyyy ahead of its time that would be for sure.

What a work done man, I appreciate your work. It shows you wants WP to suceed and get some good market share. We all expecting to WP will succeed in coming years. MS released minor update portigo and GDR2 in talks,I belive GDR2 also don't have much change and will be a minor update, These two minor updates will proof or test only ota cabability of WP. Blue or WP9 or 8.1 only may have much changes in the OS and we belive your works allmost all are happen and much more also will be added.

Any other similar works about other features in progress?

Interesting, I use the home screen for that. I'm actually surprised at how little I use the task switcher, though that could be attributed to me using my PCs more these days than my phone. The percentage of Windows Phone users who actually utilise the task switcher regularly would be an interesting statistic to know.

This is amazing. You probably solved all the major 'issues' with WP there (aside from apps).

Please tweet this to Joe Belfiore! He must see this!

4,5,7 looks good, all other stuff looks horrible and reminds android.
I would change to iphone or android instantly if this would happen to WP8.

I like what you have done so far, especially with IE...I believe that WP is a refreshing, modern UI, but the simplicity can't stop at just the appearances. If you have to go to Settings or install a 3rd party app to do simple things, than it defeats the purpose of the UI. So, great job in the right direction! :)

Most of it looks good, very nice. but, other parts are too busy and if that was the case it might as well be android...
