Windows phone freezing

This has only started happening in the last week. I turn my phone on, unlock it... And I get a "Resuming..." screen (Like you're resuming an app without the fast switch) can't do anything and have to restart my phone.

As I said it's very recent but it's happened at least 6 times. I've had no updates to my phone (Haven't even got GDR2 yet thanks HTC!) The only thing I can think of that has changed is I've installed MetroMail.

Has this started happening for anyone else?

I have a Lumia 1520, and I have noticed the same problem. In fact it happened this morning. So far it's an infrequent occurrence. I just checked for a phone update and my "phone is up to date."

Freezing, or simply stalled on an app launch? There have been quite a few reports of the screen freezing, as-in no response to touch. My 928 does this quite often (three times this past weekend). I am still at GDR2/Amber. I have one app that never opens, yet the live tile does update. Go figure.

I guess it's not freezing, as the animations happen and I can still hear email notifications. But you can't get past it til you restart the phone.

Whenever i launch xbox games i am also getting "Resuming..." Which never happened before !!

Before amber i just had a one time freeze like that a few days ago, but few weeks before when i opened music+video it takes few seconds to open it says resuming faced it 2 -3 times!!!

I have the same issue with my Ativ S since about 3 weeks. I'm on GDR1. "Phone is up to date". I think its an app (updated in the last weeks) in the background freezing the whole phone.

This is definitely caused by Skype. After it happening at least once a day for a week, I uninstalled skype and for a week it hasn't happened. Since they've just released a new update, and a reinstall might fix it anyway, I'm about to reinstall it.

Yes, It could be Skype. Yesterday I installed the Skype update. This morning when unlocking the phone -> no freezing phone :wink:

Very rarely i get white screen, completely frozen, have to soft reset. The other day i got completely frozen home screen, like a JPEG picture, also soft reset was needed. Lumia 520. But it's a very rare thing/

Same problem here....never happened before, but for the past three weeks its been happening quite often !!
Also app crashes are more now... any remedies besides a reset ??

I've never had this issue on my Ativ S runnning latest Windows Phone 8.1 build. I think a soft reset should fix this.
Soft reset for Nokia Lumia: Power + Camera + Vol Down/Up
Soft reset for other WPs: Long press power
