Worrying Trend - Apps not allowed on SD Card!

For those of us that are short on on board memory (HTC 8S especially), is anyone else noticing the trend that more and more developers are requiring their apps to be installed on the phone only? ie. App not allowed to be installed on the SD card?

I'm on an 8XT (8GB) and the ability to run apps from the SD card has allowed me to try, buy and use more apps than I ever could have on WP 8.0. It's been awesome.

Glympse just did it, Tapatalk just changed as well. There are a few more that I've had to move over as well.

Is this just the tip of the iceberg that will eventually render apps on the SD card a nice, but useless feature?

Does anyone know why an app like Tapatalk would think they need to be on phone memory only? (I could see Glympse possibly needing to sit closer to the GPS chip for performance?...maybe...)

It's odd. I mean #1 Toolkit - brilliant app and it was working excellently on the sd card but the recent update means that it's main memory only. Why?

I believe its a simple switch in the sdk that allows for the app to work natively from the external memory... Might be wrong. But seriously, are devs just not implementing it?

I uninstalled it with the SD requirement...well, that and the app advertising craziness...but the no SD Card put it over the edge.

I posted the question on the Tapatalk forum asking for a reason...they haven't even posted the latest changelog there...
