Worth switching from Verizon?

I've been asking myself the same thing. I've been with Verizon for over a decade. Maybe it's time for something new ...

How exactly did $50 get you the 950? Did they give you your money back and you added $50 to it to buy the 950? Or did they give you an offer to purchase a 950 for $50? Or what?

When I first purchased my Lumia Icon from the Microsoft store, I paid an extra 99$ for Microsoft Complete insurance. They no longer make the phone, and have to replace with equal value. There was a 50$ deductable, hence why I paid only 50$ for it.

I moved from Verizon to Cricket for it. ATT has better coverage in Louisiana though so I've only gained from this move.

I hate to agree. I switched to AT&T and the 950 from a Verizon Icon. I moved offices at work from one side of my building to another, and the VZW reception just went to crap, where as people with AT&T were having much better reception on that side, so it was 50% for that reason, and 50% cause I was hoping the 950 would be an improvement from my Icon. I am sad to report that I don't really feel that it is. The phone just lost all the feeling of a premium feel with the back covers. I loved the feel of the Icon, and I just don't get why they could not keep the metal band but still have a replaceable cover (I think the 830 was similar, no?) Also, windows 10 is a hot mess. Maybe it is just cause I was used to 8.1, but I'm not liking 10 much. I got these mostly cause I was tired of VZW not supporting WP, and got them on the next12 plan, so hopefully Dan is right on when he says that surface phone is gonna be out late next year. When it was going to be out early next year I was just gonna hold onto the Icon, but he swayed me with the news that it wont be out till end of 2016.

I just read an article about Verizon point fingers at Microsoft saying it's their fault us Verizon consumers are S.O.L. They stated that Microsoft could have easily went through the FCC to make the devices Verizon compatible but chose not to and Microsoft didn't even approach them about the two. How unfortunate...

It was a bit more than that, with Verizon clearly stating that with "very little consumer demand" for a Windows 10 phone, "Verizon has chosen to not carry the Nokia Lumia 10 in its retail channels" (quote directly from the letter).

Yeah I get that but they also said they would have allowed them on the network if Microsoft approached them. So we wouldn't be completely screwed if they actually did lol
