They report and measure different things. ComScore reports proportions of devices in use, the previous report shows sales during a specified period.

It seems as though that while WP sales are up, the smartphone market continues to grow and WP is not keeping pace. I feel that low end devices in other countries will be WP's saving grace. Hence why there's a handful of flagship devices and a ton of low-end WP8 phones.

comScore's numbers are derived "an intelligent online survey of a nationally representative sample of mobile subscribers age 13 and older," which loosely translated, is a user poll. And like any poll, the results may or may not be indicative of the actual population.

I wouldn't put too much stock into any of these types of statistics that rely on gathering data from small sample sizes - whether they favour or disfavour WP.

If it's a representative sample, then sample size doesn't add much beyond a certain point. Question is whether it's representative.

Nope. Not if you know the distinction between absolute and relative. If I buy 95 green Legos and 5 red Legos, then red Legos comprise 5% of the total. If I go buy 48 more green Legos and 2 more red Legos, absolutely I have more red Legos than before but now, relatively, the percentage of red Legos has declined to 4.67%.

Maybe there were still some Windows Mobile users that migrated to other platforms. I hope this is the bottom and the growth start next month.
