Hiya, I am completely new to windows phones, and have purchased a windows phone 8s by htc, and I would like to know whether there's any way that I can password protect the Internet browser? Please don't bother with the usual, 'why would you want to?' I have my reasons and basically all I want is a password request to pop up before the Internet browser is accessed. If anyone can help, I would be a very happy bunny. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to WPCentral

Unfortunately there's no way to password-protect the browser.

Is the honestly nothing that can be done, to either password protect or delete the browser? That seems a bit of a shame. And the problem is that if I did use kids corner, then what is there in place to stop a child from exiting it and having full access to the rest of the phone?

Thanks markfive, I appreciate the reply, can I set some kind of password protected parental controls on the browser instead? I know that on windows seven on my laptop, you could install a windows live family protection thingy, and that works really well, is there anything like that I could get for my phone?

IIRC can't you put a passowrd on kids corner? I never used it, but I imagine there wouldn't be a point to using kids corner if the kid could just leave it anytime they wanted.

There's no way to put a password on the browser specifically though. I don't know of any browser on any mobile device that has this functionality actually and the only way I know you can do it even on a desktop is by installing a custom extention to whatever browser you have that lets you do something similar..

If the kid exists kid's corner, they cannot enter the phone normally. You can password protect your phone, so they can swipe away to get into kid's corner anytime they want probably but for them to use your phone normally, without kid's corner, they will need to ask your permission (which obviously you will deny!) in order to unlock the phone.

Once they exit Kids Corner, the rest of the phone is locked.

Ah, this I did not know, I haven't really played around with it much yet, but this does help a lot, thanks guys!!!

Oh and if IE on the phone shares the same stuff as IE on kids corner (not sure on this, haven't used it yet), you can try installing two different browsers.

For example use IE as your normal browser but maybe install SurfCube or UC Browser for use on Kid's Corner. That way you have your own browser that you use privately (and as such, it's favoirtes, tabs, settings and history are private to you), and the kids corner browser that is for your kid or whoever uses that :)

Kaspersky also have a browser for WP with parental control features - if Kids Corner is an acceptable solution to your problem then this should work for you.

Thanks KorJax, that seems to be a nice solution, that way I can still access what I want outside of kids corner, but the kids still have a certain amount that they can do on the phone. That sounds like an ideal solution to me. Just out of curiosity, are there any parental controls in the IE browser that I could utilise too?
