Yes , I use lumia 520 and 920 both running latest version of windows phone 8.1 developer preview.

I will recommend 1GB or more space. Also backup all your important data before doing this :wink:

I not sure about this one , once you install windows phone 8.1 DP , head into phone settings/phone updates and check your phone for updates. If your phone is up-to-date then the battery update is included else it will start downloading the latest update available for your Lumia 520
