WP8 Needs The "Xbox Phone" As The WP8 Flagship!

Whoa guys, you are totally forgetting something! A Kinect sensor built in to the phone, duh!

Nokia makes all of their money from selling the low end phones. The 52x phone outsells 920, 1520 and 1020. Combined.

That said, I understand the importance of a flagship phone. You need a real marquee device to serve that market, and to show the overall power of the platform.

But, the specs listed are a tad on the crazy side. 128 GB of onboard storage would be awesome. It would also be expensive. 8 GB of memory is ridiculous. Current WP8 devices run fantastically on 1-2 GB of memory. I see no reason to, again, add price to the device needlessly. If you must have more RAM for pure stats porn, the 4GB would still be sufficient.

Sadly, the most crazy part is the subsidized price. You want this phone to sell for $200-300 subsidized by Verizon and AT&T. Let's compare with the current iPhone 5S. According to Apple's price, the 64 GB iphone 5s sells retail for $849. The subsidy price on at&t is still a crazy $399. The specs listed would make the X-Box Phone would make the phone cost $1000, unless Microsoft sold it at a significant loss. AT&T already made Nokia cheapen the 1520 to 16 GB to get it to a retail price of $584, or a $199 subsidized price. There is no way that the carriers would subsidize this phone to $200.

Gorilla Glass Lunar panel screen to wireless Moon Charge at night
Awesome! Thank you, this made my Monday morning :)

If we've got solar and lunar charging, last thing to add is literal cloud storage, with data packets beamed directly into the clouds on a micro-vapor trail electromagnetically organized by a pulse emitted from the phone.

There aren't many but am sure you can create one anywhere you want, for the price of this phone ;)

LOL! Well that would be a very expensive phone! Not many places to plop a villa down in London! Prices are quite shocking too!

I've reconsidered my earlier skepticism and think that I had been too hasty. We just need a better marketing message for our flagship phones. Instead of talking about the 2 GB Lumia 1020 and 1520, we should be the first phones to announce 16 Gb of storage. That simple switch from bytes to bits really helps in the marketing arena.

If we need more memory bragging rights, we can switch to 1.6 Tmb (1.6 tera-milli-bits) -- no one else in the smartphone market employs milli-bits as effectively as Windows Phone!

Microsoft needs a true flagship device to make a splash big enough to draw more iOS and Android users to WP8 and only one MS brand has the power to do that and that's Xbox. We've heard rumors of a potential Surface phone in the future but as excellent of a product the Surface and Surface 2 have been as well as the awesome Nokia Lumia phones, but neither brands have the power/influence to inspire a mass iOS and Android user exodus to WP8 like a properly executed Xbox Phone could. The Surface and Nokia divisions working together could make one badass phone. Have it be the same material (black or silver) as the the surface with a green or silver Xbox logo engraved on the back and load it up with the absolute best and cutting edge in mobile tech. It should be not only the best smartphone for WP but the best smartphone on the market PERIOD and send shock waves through the tech world.

-8GB RAM
-128 GB internal hard drive with micro SD support
-1080P HD display (use screen dimensions from L1520 or L929)
-41 MP camera from the L1020 (can be made to fit plush if phone's thickness is equal to Surface's)
-Best available battery pack with wireless charging and/or removable battery option
-Free Skype Service
-Free Xbox Music Service
-Full Xbox Live Marketplace connectability (can download and play X360 and One and arcade games and port Xbox One games via Wifi to the screen when TV isnt available like Sony is doing with the PS4 and Vita.
-Free OneDrive Service
-Offer on both AT&T and Verizon to reach large numbers or users they could get the contract price down to $200-300 dollars easily plus all the incentives MS could offer through its services would null any price woes for most.

Think of all the millions of 360 and One owners who have iPhones and Androids who could be easily converted to the WP8 ecosystem with the right product. WP8 needs a flagship of the flagship phones that would make the S4 and 5S look silly in head to head comparisons and spec sheets. Sure it wouldn?t be the highest selling WP volume wise but it would bring valuable exposure to the OS that it's not yet getting from the majority of the smartphone consumer market and would also drive up other WP device sales. An Xbox phone of this magnitude would put WP8 at 20-22% market share by the end of 2015 easily had it existed and launched today.

There are two pieces here that are just crazy talk, the rest already exist, 128gb ssd for cost reasons, and 8gb of ram, which is completely unnecessary and will never be used. If you remove these crazy talk specs and go down to 2gb of ram and 32gb ssd, then you have the 929 and 1520! These phones already exist. The only thing missing is the 41mp camera, which I guarantee will be supplanted in the next few months by Nokia/Microsoft in their next flagship.

New design, (maybe surface style) and maybe catchier name are two things that can be improved as well.

Planned obsoletion is the driving force keeping the big powers in the tech market from making the absolute best phones that they can. They will lose money in the long run if they just put out "the best they can make".

Well it hasn't been Motorola for some time. The name still is out to "confuse" the consumer with XPhone and Moto X Phone. Surface WP will be suffice. Of course I'm just blowing smoke and anything is possible.

Why not 128TB of storage

What we need is a porn phone with free streaming HD porn apps built in and fast lte. That will grow WP market share overnight. 😃

Sent from my Yellow Nokia 1520 (RM-937)

The 929 exists in china haha. Someone had 3 verizon 929's on ebay. I think it's pretty clear that it's a real device and Verizon is holding back the launch for some unknown reason. But the specs of the phone align with what the OP suggested. Of course there will be an international version of that phone, which is probably the 1820. I hope they don't use that name though. Lumia 930/940 makes a lot more sense

Well excuse me I didn't know you were the end all be all authority on the Windows Phone division at Microsoft.

It may not need 8 gigs of RAM but it would need ample RAM b/c of the GAMES when someone says "Xbox" you thinking of gaming first and not watered down mobile games, high quality games that would be exclusive to the phone/platform. Oh and excuse me for calling the SSD a hard drive. How horrible of an offense. As for screen size no **** not all people want large phones like I said it would NOT be a high volume seller, just a flagship that fits into a niche and promotes the WP8 overall. As for the battery, well no **** the battery is not going to last you days on end when you're playing games, streaming media etc. Fix the Xbox music? You say that like I work for the company and have that option available to me. Now on the PS Vita point, again no one cares what you personally want, you don't represent the views of millions of potential consumers. Yes you get some OneDrive space free but the current offering wouldn't be that much if it's on a phone focusing on larger game and media files.

You don't live in the US or care about what happens here? Then why would you care about this OP from me on an irrelevant forum? You obviously cared enough to comment and the WP8 platform needs most help in the US market. People are stuck on Android and iOS here and Nokia isn't resonating(wish it did) with the majority of smartphone buyers.

If it was a "gaming phone", like to compete with the vita, but as a phone and actually look nice, it would be great. But to have an Xbox phone, we would need the Xbox game manufacturers to get on board and make REAL and GOOD mobile games (Forza Mobile, etc). But I don't think it would be called this. Maybe will get cool gaming features and gaming titles that are on the Xbox, but I don't see it becoming an "Xbox Phone".
Yes that's the intention for it to be a gaming phone with quality elusive titles that cannot be found on Android or iOS, apparently no one here in this thread truly knows the meaning to "flagship" and "niche" I never said this phone would be cheaper than an iPhone5 or Galaxy S4 and I sure as hell didn't say it would out sell them.

It doesn't need to sell 50 million units a quarter, just bring attention and interest into the WP8 platform. Beyond budget phones abroad WP8 devices have been extremely slow to catch on with the US consumer.
