Is there a link to a how-to type article on how to use Xbox music between devices. Specifically, I'd like to know to transfer music I downloaded on my PC to my Xbox. Thanks.

This would be dependent on if you have XBox music pass or not. If you have XBox music pass then every purchased song or downloaded song go into your cloud and are available to stream from all devices. You can also stream Music store content directly from the Music store. If you do not have music pass then you can setup your home pc to share your media with your XBox.

I have a one month trial subscription for xbox music and live gold to try it out. I downloaded a few songs on my windows 8 laptop then synced them to my phone using the phone app on my laptop and hdmi cable. I have no idea how to get it to my xbox though.

Yeah, you can make a playlist on either your PC or Xbox (maybe your phone too, the playlist editing sucks so I haven't tried it) and it will be available to all of your devices

When I make a playlist in xbox music on my pc it doesn't show up in xbox music on my phone. Is there something extra I have to do on my phone. I have the cloud and xbox music settings on.

All I needed to do was enable cloud connection on the phone. I did notice that sometimes Xbox music on my pc fails to sync, but it should displays error if that happens

One word of warning guys & gals. I wanted to start over again with the cloud sync by tidying up my music collection. So I removed my shared music folder which is hosted on my home server from my Windows 8 My Music library. Then I went into Xbox Music collection and deleted the entire album library. Coming back after couple of hours I noticed that anything that was matched was also deleted from my shared music folder although I unlinked it from the Music Library first! Its as if Xbox Music remembers the network path and removed the files. Luckily I have backups and shadow copies on my home server so was able to recover all my music in couple of minutes. Maybe I should have disabled Xbox Music cloud sync first before unlinking my shared Music folder from the library. So be careful when you are trying to re-organise with cloud sync on.
