My lumia is taking grudge on me deleting all the artist and id3 data no matter how many times i reset, delete and copy!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its just xbox music that made me reset the phone 20 to 30 times.......

Shows all the artists, albums and playlists when i copy the music to phone for the first time, but after some time everything magically disappears leaving just the list of songs... no artists, no albums, no playlists......

:grincry::grincry::grincry:

an Ipod shuffle is far better than this, even with no display we can browse easily through everything...

I'm so sorry with your troubles with Xbox music. I took believe that they took a step back from zune to Xbox music.

Dont know whats wrong with microsoft..
XBOX has some unique features like integration with other music related apps etc... which we love.
But compared to features BUGS are more..

They have to do something about fixing this rather than going for some scroggled campaigns!!!

I believe that MS designed Xbox Music to work best with a subscription and also when syncing with a Windows 8 computer. I have had absolutely no problems with most of the music on my Win8 pc being synced to my phone through Xbox music. All I have to do is sign in and bam, it's there. Of course, it doesn't get everything that I may want, but it's pretty easy to do a sync with Win 8 and I've never lost any or had any messed up.

That being said, I know people have issues when you just drag and drop music on your phone, which should not happen. Also, the Xbox music kind of depends on using your data connection to play or download, unless you are on wifi. And no, you shouldn't "have" to have the subscription to Xbox music, but it seems it sure works better.

i have a sub, it is the best way to get songs. I try not to move over files i own onto the phone using the sub, screws up with them matching and duplicate albums. It is horrid.

So i pretty much just use the sub, add albums to my collection and then download the files through xbox music.

If xbox music doesnt have music i listen to, then i would have to deal with the horrible matching

Hey bro, I think you and I are in tue same soup. I got my Lumia 820 just last week and haven't had peace with it since.

It started with my files vanishing like yours in Xbox music. No matter the list, they always got reduced with the same used up space. When I insert into a pc, the files are just not there.

To solve this: I had a bad 32GB sd card, I changed and the problem stopped so first I'll suggest you change card and see. Will solve it for you.

Second was Xbox music streaming 30 seconds of my own music and skipping other files by giving mt the error code 80070002/3. solved it by toggling off Xbox cloud syncing in the settings of the music app. But still receive the error if a file is unplayable. No idea what that is.

Third thing was duplicates of everything.....I deleted and formatted the card. Copied the files again and they've all be QUADRUPLED. My library is a mess and till now I'm still living with this Stupid behavior on WP8 and I'm still looking for solutions to make my file not appear in multiple forms. Now I think this is a bug in the OS and happens to phones that use SD card...should have gotten a bigger internal phone.

Also this multiple files (pictures, music and videos) which I thought would be solved by GDR3 is false. A friend bought Lumia 1520 with Lumia black and still multiple files only when he uses and sd card.

Having multiple copies of my files is really killing my love for Xbox music. I have no problem on Windows 8 but my Windows Phone is just not being nice to me. I have toggled off Xbox cloud sync in the Music app settings (Do that if you haven't) but they still quadrupling for me.

I really need help with this and now I feel lime going back to my WP7.8 where everything is just perfect.

I believe the phone keeps a database of discovered music, but is very lazy at scanning for removed music. If you're going to remove music, it's best done through the official sync app, or from the phone's music app.

You should see if you can get the database to reset by backing up your music, deleting all music from the phone via one of the apps, and if things look normal then, proceed by adding music to the SD card with an SD reader, not your phone. The phone uses something called mtp to communicate with PC, and idk if mtp is a useless pos, or if all current implementations are just god awful. Either way, directly writing to the SD card with the traditional mass storage protocol is the most reliable way (but only remove music with mtp to keep the database intact).

Firstly if the problem is with SD card why people with 1520 face the same issue?? so its obviously not SD card issue!
The problem is also not the Xbox cloud because the service itself is not available in our country!!!!
Thirdly, these issues were supposed to be solved with GDR update 2 and update 3, But People with update 3 still facing the issues.

So this simply shows the negligence of microsoft or its inability in solving the issue......

This is a very good experiment I should do as soon as I get home from work today, thanks a lot. What makes me not like the sync app is the fail errors....if I copy 10 files for example, it show 5 fail errors during copy which makes it difficult for me to determine those failed files cuz it gives you no indication. But will try it again but as you said, I'll copy everything to the sd before inserting it into the phone. If all fails, I have to lay off this phone by selling it and sticking to my HTC HD7 WP7.8. I find it that it better to be limited at the new apps coming than having them on a phone that can't manage files. Will prefer 7.8 to 8 for sure. Thanks again bro.

I agree with you but what I learnt from my friends with the L1520 is this problem is happening to 1520 users with an sd card....thus making me think it's with the sd cards but hey won't be surprised if its still with all systems. It's hell and I'm really not happy with it. I now fear adding my experimental reports from the lab to the phone....might duplicate and ruin all for me.

I spoke to a Microsoft rep. And asked him about this error code I receive when trying to listen to my cloud music he told me that the cloud service was only for desktops, laptops, and tablets and I told him that in the support page says all windows compatible devices, his final answer was that only devices with full windows and arm rt devices are compatible
What really bothered me was when I told him that my Lumia 1520 has the same arm processor has my Lumia 2520 and they are both windows products running almost the same version of windows I find it wrong they are being treated so differently, and he hung up.

hahahahaha....he doesn't know anything. He's lost in his job. I wonder how they employ them. They really need to learn their job.

I mostly listen to electronic music which you can't buy anywhere (especially DJ sets and stuff like that) so organize my music into custom/fake albums, everything is tagged properly.

Now, the problem: I've imported those albums/folders into the Xbox Music app (windows 8). That damn thing has automatically retrieved album art for some of my custom albums (looks like the retrieved album art was based on a particular song in each album).

I've checked the options and the option to auto retrieve album art was on by default.

The question is, how can I reverse this?

I would understand if the album art was auto added for the songs/albums without the album art tag. But screwing up my whole library is not acceptable!

MP3Tag is still showing my album art, so there has to be some sort of cache where this new album art is saved.

Can anyone please help?

EDIT: just to show you what I mean

I mean seriously, what the hell are they thinking!?

ouch 😠 with this, you need to get all your albums from the recognized xbox music folder and play them with windows media player or a different app. What I noticed is, once xbox music recognizes any of the songs and brings out the album art, these no way to make it forget and with time most of the songs will be recovered and turned into the original album art.

Get music bee. Or foobar, if you have properly named files, just ask the software to read from the file names and update the tags. In my case Wmp12 messed up my collection pretty bad.

If you have album arts and artist images stored in the folder, where you can read them externally, I.e, not embedded in the music file itself, then you can reattach the files easily.

better still, use Magic Tagger.

that is true. Scroogled campaign is a waste of money and it is annoying seeing them pour time and money into the ads vs focusing on things that need attention .

Agreed. XBOX music has been incredibly frustrating. It wouldn't recognize the music on my hard drive which I added to the library. So I ended up downloading Zune and what do you know..it recognized everything instantly. What a piece of garbage..same can be said of the photos app.

I have found the solution *happydance* :amaze:

1. Uninstall the Music App

2. Delete this folder: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.ZuneMusic_8wekyb3d8bbwe

3. Reinstall the app and don't forget to turn off "Automatically retrieve media info" (while in the app, go to charms, settings, preferences, media info button).

Is that in Windows 8?
