Just came across the this article on IGN and wondered if MS is really doing itself any favours. Did they not learn with the Surface storage debacle? Is this revelation the reason behind the lack of a global storage system on the X1. What the hell it using that much space, i know the x1 OS is a variant of Win8 but win8 ain't that big so what gives. Is it bloatware or some lack of optimisation? I am a big fan of the x1 and the original ideas that ms had(no issues with drm or always online, in todays world who the hell has one these high end consoles and doesn't have it always plugged in) but until they fix things, my purchase of the unit will increment by years. Prior to this article is was 22/11/2014 now its 22/11/2015.

Well, that certainly stinks that it may be that limited (just a few GB smaller than the PS4 mind you). But, 20 games on a console at a time is pretty nice...

Real space in 500GB hard drive is 465Gb so xbox reserves 100gb for internal usage (recording and stuff). PS4 reserves about 55Gb leaving 409Gb to user.

Quite same, don't see problems here. In addition xbox one should allow external HDD:s after its patched so no worries.

I have a 1 TB USB 3.0 portable external hdd ready to go. I am usually only active in 6 or less games at a time so 60 plus games should give me an adequate back catalog... and I really have not had much inconvenience with downloading even on my 3 Mb internet connection if I do ever need to reinstall anything.

XB1 is more of an entertainment device so MS reserves more space for that stuff. However soon we will have the ability to plug in infinite external hard drive and problem solved.

Yes, they did, hence the reason the internal HDD is so difficult to remove(though that's a stupid idea as these machines are closer to pc than ever).
