It seems like we are testing 8.1 for Microsoft here, which is a good thing, but just be aware. Most of the complaints are based on unrealistic expectation from software which is not released publically.

I was planning on saying the same thing but I was expecting a backlash of some sort. I'll let you take it. :P

I don't mind being a tester to get an early look and feel for it. I should expect there will be many updates to 8.1 over the next few weeks and months. I look forward to those. If this dev release is a sample of what's to come in a more refined state, I say "can't wait", ready when they are. I know some are pissed their particular apps aren't working properly, but isn't that the way it is with beta testing? Takes time for refinements.

Key word here..."Firmware". Your missing it which is causing additional problems with firmware driven hardware such as Wi-Fi and the Camera.

What people expect??? it says "Developer Preview".

It is like the Xbox dashboard previews, a lot of complains but before upgrading MS clarify that it is buggy software.

I tested desktop Windows 7 the same way. It didn't bother me, since Microsoft really did a good job when they released the official Windows 7.

Seeing so many issues being reported, well if its due to firmware well and good or else the OEM's and carries are no way going to send out WP8.1 in what state it currently is in. They will wait till MS patches up considerable and high priority bugs. So I'm expecting the official WP8.1 to be delayed.

Preview is a better term to use. I think everyone reacts negatively when someone brings up that it's a preview because of the fact that MS said this is the same final build. As with previous experience from other betas i've been part of (NXE, Kinect beta), not all bugs get ironed out once the final release is out, especially for an overhaul of this magnitude.

Yes, some of us are getting issues (music app, games app among other things), but so long as we get the feedback out there, i'm sure MS will work on it before the rest get it. I like to think of it as us helping to make sure the rest of the population not in the preview gets a better final product.

i guess im not a heavy user, I've played with almost every function in WP8.1 but haven't counter real problems. Music app is slow but now it's no longer baked in so it's an app problem.

Well.. Windows for desktop is technically way more advanced in terms of features, etc. Its a matured platform which makes it way easier to maintain stability in a newer version. Even Windows 8 was very stable during beta..

Lol.. thanks
