Bunk! My Nexus runs vanilla android, and it LAGS. Not as frequently as, say, my Droid X2 running Motoblur, but it is not even in the same universe as the WP devices.

ALL Android devices lag. That is the trade-off you get for "true multi-tasking".

Not really. Vanilla android does in fact not lag. Don't get me wrong, I hate android (for other reasons) but I thoroughly tried and tested it, and I can tell you that it runs as well as any WP phone and I hate when people spread misinformation.

Which Nexus do you have? I have the Nexus 4 and so far it has been perfect in terms of what it set out to achieve. Galaxy Nexus and ICS seemed to lag alot. They fixed all of that with "Project Butter" in Jelly Bean.

Granted, WP8 is still generally better but it still lags. I haven't had any issues with my N4 though. Still, I'm counting down the days until I get my 920 :) (I used to have an 810).

I've been told that the nexus devices run vanilla android out of the box. Custom roms are almost always vanilla with xyz modification, so yes they tend to be unlaggy unless the "chef" has no idea what he's doing, or unless they're experimenting with new features / kernels / etc.

I've run android on my HD2 for quite a while and my friend had the Samsung captivate. We we both played with vanilla and varying roms and I can tell you that android itself is not inherently buggy or laggy.

Well, all Android smartphones lags, that is the fact, there's no exception whatsoever. Why? Android runs on JVM, java lags therefor Android lags! And I say this with pitty cause Android has a ton of functionalities, but it works with spikes, frames! And those are visible to the eye, they aren't hiding deep down in some obscure function of the phone, the lag is right there, straight in your face.
I don't want to annoy anyone, but that's the truth.
On the other hand, WP is water flowing, smooth, no frames or spikes. It has his minuses, but I hope GDR2 will fix that. No wonder that guy loved 8X and ditched the S3.

Have you ever used an Android phone in the past year? I have NO LAG WHATSOEVER on my N4. In fact, I daresay, my N4 performed tasks faster when I compared it to the Lumia 920 at the Microsoft store.
