Zune changing to Xbox Music affecting WP?

With Zune changing over to Xbox Music August 31st, will that affect much on Windows Phone? Will it be a whole new app?

WP8 phones will get an Xbox music hub. Since it's a big branding thing, I guess the 7.8 update for current devices will have some update that changes the Zune hub as well.

I'd be surprised if the desktop client will change that much beyond name and maybe a few Xbox-like elements in the design.

Agreed. It's more or less a rebranding effort.

Also, on Windows 8 computers, I expect more development effort to occur on the UI-formerly-known-as-Metro side of things rather than the desktop app.

That makes sense. I can't see them doing many changes to WP with 8 and 7.8 around the corner.
