This may be a slightly different issue than what others have typed for this thread so I apologize if this the wrong thread for my issue. I have a Dell Vista laptop; trying to connect my Lumia 928 Windows Phone via the provided USB cable that came with the phone. Back some months ago it worked where the computer would recognize the phone, charge it, let me transfer pics, etc. Now today, I was helping a friend move pics from her Lumia 928 via plugging it in to said Dell laptop. It is 'recognized' in Device Manager as a properly working portable device, it says the drivers are working and updated. I have tried plugging the phone in 3 different USB outlets on the laptop, I have restarted the phone and the laptop many times. The only popup I get is one asking me to open in Windows Explorer but it will not find my Camera Roll or any of the personal pics or videos stored on the phone. The only pictures I can access are the generic ones that came with the phone. I have tried unplugging and plugging back in the phone about 10 times and nothing allows me to open up 'personal' photos/videos that would be stored in the camera roll. Is this an issue with Windows Phone 8; or perhaps an issue with Windows Media Player 10 (I don't have 11 on the laptop) or some other issue? I have read a lot tonight on other forums about what could be the issue but no one seemed to mention that their computer recognized their phone but not their personal photos/videos. Just freaking frustrating that I can 'see' and access the included photos that came with the phone but my laptop won't let me find and open up the Camera Roll or whatever it would be called for my personal pics/videos. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
