How on earth do you install the rollup update?

So I installed the new Technical Preview (9926) when it came out, and it's fairly buggy. I saw Microsoft released a fix for those bugs on the day of, but I have no clue how to install it. When I go to update, it doesn't show anything of the sort, just some things from Intel and Windows Defender. But when I try to install those, they fail every time. Is there another way around it other than Windows Update?

I'm experiencing errors as well. WHen I look in update history, I see "Zune Software" and a windows defender definition.

The defender definition installs every time but the zune software does not.

Has anyone found a way to selectively install updates?

EDIT: I went to Advanced Options > Uncheck "Give me updates for other Microsoft products when I update Windows"

Fixed the issue for now. Now I'm showing "Up to date"

I'm having much difficulty with the latest build too. I've installed it three times and if I even to do anything but sit at the desktop, it crashes. I can't even launch Internet Explorer. The previous version was fairly stable. This one has issues.

I had hardly any issues on the previous build, but like you, I can't launch IE (unless I tell Cortana to search for something, that's the only way). I don't know how these folks got the rollup update, but I want it

Yeah I'd like the rollup update myself. The current build for me is unusable as is. If we all keep poking around maybe one of us will come across something helpful and we can post back here.

Little confused here...the first one is just the regular JTP of Windows 10, and the second is the "rollup"? If so, what do I do with the second link?

OP Check this thread - http://forums.windowscentral.com/wi...9-[9926]-windows-update-0x80070057-error.html

There's a solution if you're getting the same error...

I'm getting error code 0x80070103. On Microsoft's site, it says it is because I am trying to install drivers/updates that I already have and/or ones that are less compatible than what I currently have. So like I suspected, these have nothing to do with the rollup update and don't really matter. On the WC main page's article about the rollup update, it says that in order to install it, you must first have installed plain old 9926, so there should be no chance I already have the rollup update. Maybe it did it afterwards automatically without me knowing? But I doubt that because I'm still experiencing most issues noted PepperdotNet MIGHT have given me the solution here, but we will see

Well I don't know exactly what happened but my machine picked up some updates and installed them. I thought things were better but IE still crashes on launch. Back to the drawing board.

EDIT: After the latest post crash reboot I was able to a least view my update history and it shows KB3034229 as installed. It hasn't helped any with the instability though. IE crashes on launch. Firefox was crashing as well. I'm running a complete fresh install so I need to reinstall Firefox and see what happens.

I figured out what my issue is. The AV I'm using must not be compatible with the latest build. If I disable real time (on access) scanning the problem goes away and I can launch both IE and Firefox. If I re-enable it, they crash.
I don't trust Windows Defender so I'll have to find another option.

Hmm let me try that...IE doesn't launch for me either unless I search for something using Cortana
