KB4041676 update issued on 2017-OCT-10 is running on my laptop for ever unable to complete the update. Direct updating was stock at 16% then at 38% and finally I had to download the whole KB4041676 of some 900MB and attempt installing but it is unable to finish the update. Any helping hint is appreciated with thanks.

You may want to hold off as this update has caused problems for some. FWIW, I've updated 3 systems without a problem. Anyway, go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and delete all the subfolders and files. Don't delete the Download folder, only files in it. Then try checking for updates again.
