Seeing as I'm here now and my first dumas question/issue was already covered in a blog with comments, I don't search properly but yet I received great help anyway.. :...

When I bought my Lenovo Thinkpad L 420 some years ago now, it had W7 Pro on a 32 bit system when 64 bit was becoming the rage. It got the free W10 Pro upgrade and I can't remember if it was still 32 bit after that.

I thought this was hardware / CPU based and I wasn't bothered.

How come I have a 64- bit OS now?
Did it change with a major update.

    Just curious.

    According to this: https://ark.intel.com/products/52229...p-to-3-20-GHz-

You have a 64 bit chip. This isn't something that can be upgraded. Lenovo may have put a 32 bit OS on your machine and the Windows 10 upgrade put you on a 64 bit OS.
