How to keep fitbit bluetooth connection active?

I just switched from a Galaxy S4 to a Lumia 830. I mostly love it. One frustration involves fitbit connectivity. The app is great (even better than Android), especially with the live tile; and I have no problem getting things connected. But, the connection does not stay "alive" during the day. Periodically, I will check my phone for my fitbit stats and it will be hours (sometimes a day) behind. I have to open up the fitbit app and wait for it to "look" for the fitbit and sync it up. Unfortunately, this makes the livetile useless.

On my android, it would maintain it's bluetooth connection to the fitbit 24/7. Is there something that I can do to force things to stay connected?

Are you sure the connection is dropping or is the app not working in the background? Do you have the fitbit app allowed to run in the background at all times?
