Hi,

Anyone know how to switch off 4 G coonection and connect only using 2G and then when required I can turn on 4G. I have a tmobile plan which has 500 mb 4 G and unlimited 2 G. I want to use 2G all the time and only switch to 4G when required. This is also required for battery as with 4G it drains fast.

Pls let meknow.

In terms of battery, I'm not sure that switching to 3G only will save that much in battery life. Most phones stay in 3G mode and only switches HSPA+ (4G) on when you actually start using data, and 3G doesn't use much more power than 2G.

As for only have 500 GB, you can't "save" your 3G/4G. Basically, you get "up to 4G" speeds for your first 500 MB, after the first 500 MB you are throttled regardless of your speeds for the first 500 MB.

ok thanks guys. I have given up trying to set it to 2G. Looks like it is not possible..

We did once have the option to select between 4g and 2g network selection on T-Mobile. But looks like T-Mobile changed something on their end when searching for networks..
