While we have W10 means What is the use of GDR update 2?

Thanks to clarify the use of GDR update 2. we will receive Windows10 as soon as possible. so why should they make GDR update 2?

what i am asking, GDR update 2 for 8.1 users ? or Windows 10 users?

gdr2 for windows 10 will come once gdr1 for windows 10 comes.The gdr2 for 8.1 might probably be a small update

Tomorrow W10 will release so 95% peoples will jump for W10. then what is the use of GDR update 2 for W8.1? then who will use that small update? balance 5% of peoples? if the update is success means MS will reach overwhelming proud

You might actually be on the same page as Microsoft. They were working on the GDR2 update for WP8.1, but by the time it could do anything, they had announced Windows 10, so figured put GDR2 on new hardware, but scrap it from that point on since Windows 10 is a bigger deal.

So unless you get a new phone, the next update you'll expect is Windows 10.

The W10 release tomorrow would be for Insiders only and Insiders do not constitute 95% of WP users. Secondly, the release tomorrow is a BETA release, that means the software is not ready for prime time use, nor it has been RTM'd. Between Denim and and WM10 release almost half a year from now, Microsoft has given hardware OEMs (including themselves) an upgraded OS with additional features to release their interim devices on. This does not mean Microsoft would not be releasing additional updates to the GDR2 build either.
