Is it now possible to assign static IP address to Windows Phone 8.1 to connect to Wi-Fi?

So frustrating. The settings for editing the IP address is still blocked. Makes no sense

So it depends, if the firmware (e.g. Cyan update) has the EnableStaticIP.xml set on Value=1

Most OEMs would not bother to enable that function. You read it here first.

Hate to burst your bubble but this feature will not come with cyan...at least it's not on the Lumia 630 I ordered. I'm very disappointed

It is possible for hackers to clone your imei or to even block your phone etc if they want to. basically you're giving too much power to the wrong type of people to be defrauded etc.

Guess what a colleague at work bought a dual SIM Lumia 630 but unlike all the other 630s I've come in contact with, his has the ability to assign static IP to Wi-Fi networks. His phone doesn't even run on WP 8.1 update 1. What on earth is wrong with Microsoft. There seem to be no consistency in the OS. Some phones have that ability some don't. I've Attached an image

I tried the app but after changing my IP address and reconnecting, the app shuts down and I get connected to my preferred WiFi without internet access (which was possible before too). When I go back to the static IP app my IP address has changed back to original...

I encountered similar problems. I uninstalled the app same day I installed it
