Now that it is clear that W10 will not be rolled out to 512MB phones and L1020, will there be just firmware updates or it all stops as W10 is in thing? Will they atleast take care or minor problems like with Lumia apps or OS if not the FW?

slowly but steadily wp 8.1 will die , a slow death though. Here maps gone , mix radio too said goodbye.

its the future of things to come. Better upgrade to a newer device :)

8.1 is declining and will continue to decline slowly. All effort is on Windows 10 Mobile thus far and I don't believe that MS will do anything for 8.1 in the future.

Better settle in, hop on Insider to buy some time on early Windows 10 Mobile or get out of the Windows business.

or of course, buy another device.

More than likely apps will go away a little at a time.

Developers will create new apps for Windows 10 Mobile and either discontinue Windows Phone 8.1 apps or never update them (this is what happened with the Windows Phone 7.x apps).

The Windows Central app is a prime example. The Windows Phone 8.1 version has been abandoned. The new Windows Central app supports Windows 10 Mobile, and it will continue to be updated.
