One of the cool things about Windows 8 is that the default apps (Mail, Calendar, Music, etc.) are decoupled from the OS and can be updated independent of OS updates via the store.
Does anyone know if this is the case for Windows Phone 8? I haven't seen any mention either way. It would be great if some of the neglected apps from WP7 (e.g. Calendar) could be updated without having to wait for a Mango-style OS update.
I suppose they could push app updates through OTA OS updates, but a much better and consistent experience would be to be able to update them through the store like Windows 8.
