This is the cool thing about Nokia's swappable cases for the 820. You not only get to swap colors but swap designs. You can go with the slim ones already debuted, or something like this:

With other phones, you need to put a rugged aftermarket case OVER the OEM case, resulting in a lot of bulk for the screen size. Not so with the Lumia 820.

Aren't they both polycarbonate? How does it help other than cosmetic? Also, how does that protect the first thing that's going to get wrecked on that phone, the weak sauce screen.

The black is a rubber-ish material, not solid polycarbonite. Basically, rubber bumpers protect the screen in a face-down fall and absorb force when the phone lands on the edge. From the article:

These covers, arriving in green, yellow and orange, will measure in at the same length and width as the others, but will protrude marginally more, offering some protection to that 4.3-inch screen when it comes into contact with surfaces. A "rubber-like" trim will afford some extra protection to those glossy corners too.

These are one of the big reasons I'm considering a 820. Just a shame they have wireless charger cases or ruggedised, not combined.
