Nokia 930, why do living images fail?

Nokia 930 LIVING IMAGES Fail

I switched living images off for a while but after switching it back on (after deciding I liked the feature), all photos previously taken that were 'living images' are now NOT and won't play back as such. Is there any way round this, or is it a bug not yet fixed. I have the latest software updated as of 6 Oct 2015.

Are you on the technical preview or 8.1? If you're on the latest build of the technical preview, then don't expect anything to work at all like it should. Wait it out till MS works out all the kinks

Go to your Camera roll folder and check if your 'live' photos still have their associated animated part saved as photo_name.mp4.thm?

mp4.thm files now gone. Must have been deleted somehow as any new living images created have those files and work as they should. Thanks for your time anyway.

Well, at least we know what is the problem, although we still don't know how you lost those files...

I think the live images are deleted after a certain (configurable) amount of time.
One might save the ones that are valuable somewhere.
