I also get errors whit some updates, but I never bother. I'm 99% sure you won't have any majopr problems if some updates are not installed. DVD drive gone - try ot install motherboard chipset/INF driver.

BSOD never, on any windows version, repaired anything. It's just an error mesaage. That 0%...100% is the log saving progress. So, stuck at 0% means it does not save any log, for some reason. But you can just take the error codes (usually near the end of the text) and search for a solution.
